Learn the fundamentals of narrative keyframing for visual development! Join Samuel in this 8-week class and learn everything that goes into making exciting narrative color keys that set the mood for a project. If you are interested in telling a story, painting loosely, and using color in an emotionally engaging way, this class is for you! There will be a combination of demos, lectures and homework assignments that we’ll review in class.

Mood through lighting
Sequential storytelling
Painting on one layer
Abstraction and indication without detail
Creating texture
Photoshop tips and tricks (should work with procreate too)

Format: 4 hour live class with combination of lectures, demos, and feedback. Recordings will be provided within 24 hours of each class.
Materials: Any digital or traditional mediums. Paintovers will be done digitally.

Week 3: Painting different materials
Week 4: Combining references
Week 5: Designing a sequence of 4 keyframes I
Week 6: Designing a sequence of 4 keyframes II
Week 7: Painting our key frames, defining mood through color and light
Week 8: Finishing the paintings, Q&A, tips for going further.
