Creating Sci-fi Anime Scenery in Blender-00.jpg

Add a whole new style to your Blender repertoire with Sci-Fi Anime Scenery.

In this course, you’ll get an in-depth look at hard-surface modeling and learn how to render your scenes into 2D animation layers. Then, I’ll show you how to set up your camera, animate a scene with keyframes, and apply helpful anime-style post-processing techniques.

Expert 3D Artist Nikolai Fletcher - Profile & Portfolio

Hello! My name is Nikolai Fletcher, also known as niko4696.
I’m a Canadian-born freelance 3D artist and graphic designer specializing in 3D and vector graphics.
I spent several years as a senior graphic designer in the advertising industry and have over 10 years of experience in digital art. Today, I work as a freelance artist and illustrator.
I’m best known for my detailed hard-surface modeling and my 1990s-style anime environments—work deeply inspired by the more than three years I spent living in Japan. That experience left a lasting impact on my artistic direction, and my ongoing visits continue to fuel my creativity.
In this class, I’ll share the techniques and insights I’ve developed throughout my career. You’ll learn modeling, texturing, lighting, and even basic animation using Blender, Clip Studio Paint, and After Effects.
I sincerely hope this Coloso class helps you expand your artistic skill set and supports your creative journey.

Class Highlights

Master the Essentials of Hard-Surface Modeling
One of the core skills you’ll develop in this class is the ability to model a scene from scratch. We’ll begin with theory and concepting—the first stage of hard-surface modeling. Then, I’ll introduce useful Blender add-ons and free, open-source tools like fSpy, which helps precisely match Blender’s camera settings and optionally set your background image.
The modeling section is comprehensive yet beginner-friendly: we start with the basics of hard-surface modeling and gradually work toward a full professional workflow.
Create Parallax Animation with Depth and Dimension
Parallax effects can be challenging to get right, which is exactly why I’ll walk you through the entire process: rendering a scene into 2D parallax layers, setting up your camera specifically for multi-layer animation, and using keyframes to achieve realistic depth and dimensionality.
Learn Anime-Style Post-Processing Techniques
Post-production is just as important as production. In this section, I’ll guide you through combining the power of After Effects and Blender to create anime-style visuals using adjustment layers and effects.
You’ll also learn how to use Adobe Media Encoder, a convenient tool for exporting high-quality videos while avoiding the oversized file outputs that After Effects typically generates.
