You have a strong hand on making portraits! Rendering is also very close to becoming great, just needs some more study on creating depth and you'll be off to making masterpieces Good artwork, keep it up!! Really love the patterns too

thats great!! I would like to take the opportunity to add some more points to steer you the right direction :-
Lighting is the most important element that help give the artwork a sense of depth, use appropriate references that match with the scene you are trying to make, a good lighting reference helps a lot in getting the shadows right. I will suggest if you know any 3d softwares, you can setup the scene in there and experiment with the lighting setups. Testing it out in 3d is the easiest method to get the lighting right + you are already testing it in a "3d environment" so your illustration will end up having the depth. I will attach a quick and simple test.
very simple, very primitive setup, something like that helps if there is no good reference available. ( made in blender took about 15 mins )
Lookup some tutorials on blender and lighting, if you are not familiar with the software, trust me its a lot of fun!
