Analytical Figure Drawing A, B, C [CGMA, Christian Nacorda, Ron Lemen, Rey Bustos - 2020, Grou...jpg

This course focuses on the analysis of the human figure, beginning with the skeleton, progressing through muscle layers, and culminating in skin application. Students will learn how to effectively communicate the figure's form, shape, and function.

As students develop their foundational skills, special emphasis will be placed on understanding and applying these basics to the human figure. The course will adopt a process-based approach, focusing on form analysis, construction, and perspective. It offers an in-depth study of the figure and surface anatomy while grounding students in artistic principles and design.

Important Note: Each instructor may have a different course outline. Please click “Request Syllabus” to view the outlines for each instructor.

Course Outline

Week 1: Gesture Drawing
Students will learn to draw the figure using a minimized, abstract organization of lines that emphasizes movement, proportion, and anatomy.

Week 2: Familiarization with the Skeleton
This week focuses on using the skeletal system to organize and interpret gestures into volumes and perspectives while maintaining proper proportions. Students will practice these concepts when constructing the figure.

Week 3: Basic Construction of the Head
Students will familiarize themselves with the skeleton and its structural foundations as they apply to the human head. This week will cover the construction and design of the human head, using skull landmarks to demonstrate form and perspective.

Week 4: Muscles of the Torso
This week defines and explores the shapes and functions of the muscles in the front and back of the torso.

Week 5: Muscles of the Hip & Upper Leg
Students will define and study the shapes and functions of the muscles and tendons in the hip and upper leg.

Week 6: Muscles of the Lower Leg & Foot
This week focuses on defining the shapes and functions of the muscles and tendons in the lower leg and foot.

Week 7: Muscles of the Shoulder & Upper Arm
Part one of the rendering sub-lecture. Students will define the shapes and functions of the muscles in the shoulder and upper arm, along with lighting techniques for the head and their application to figure drawing.

Week 8: Muscles of the Forearm & Hand
Part two of the rendering sub-lecture. Students will define the shapes and functions of the muscles in the forearm and hand, while learning to light the full figure and apply their knowledge to figure drawing.

CGMA offer multiple teachers for courses and for some courses (this one included) each teacher has their own syllabus and assignments so it's worth reviewing each to see which one suits your learning style best.

Be careful I bought a storyboarding course from cgma here and there were 2 instructor names but when I download the course and watch it there are only 1 teacher both folders are the same teacher.

There were similar lectures (only slightly different according to file names) from the same instructor, but the feedback sessions were different. I agree that we should definitely mention that in the description!
I only realized it after you reached out. 😊
